Lancaster County Adult Gardening Classes
The Lancaster County Agricultural Society is partnering with the Lancaster Soil and Water Conservation District and the Lancaster County Library System to provide a monthly adult outreach program to Lancaster County residents at no cost.
The Lancaster County Agricultural Society is comprised of Andrew Jackson High School, Buford High School, Indian Land High School and Lancaster High Agricultural/ FFA Departments.
“The Lancaster County Agricultural Society is designed to aid interested adults through systematic and organized education programs on agriculture and agribusiness. We are excited to partner with the Lancaster County Library and the Lancaster Soil and Water Conservation District to make our programs more accessible to the community,” said Tyler Outen.
Goals of the program:
-
Learn to plan and maintain garden spaces
-
Practice eco-friendly gardening techniques such as composting and water conservation
-
Explore how growing food connects to health, culture, and community resilience
-
Learn about community programs and resources available for farmers
“This partnership is helping us expand our Cool Beans Seed Library to now offer an adult outreach program for our citizens. Our first four classes will have topics that will include fall gardens, canning, floral arrangements and charcuterie boards. We will provide light refreshments and of course we will have lots of great giveaways at each class” said Amanda Roberts with Lancaster SWCD.
