The Lancaster Soil and Water Conservation District’s Sowing Seeds Program provides native and heirloom vegetable and wildflower seeds to Lancaster County residents at no cost.
January 2021 – The 1st seed library "Sowing Seeds Program" was launched to support home and community gardens throughout Lancaster County.
2023 – We partnered with the Lancaster County Library System to supply seeds for the Cool Beans Seed Library, available at all county library branches.
April 2026 – We are excited to expand once again with the introduction of our Sowing Seeds Stand.
About the Sowing Seeds Stand
Beginning April 7, 2026, the Sowing Seeds Stand will be open to the public at:
1771 Hwy 521 Bypass South, Lancaster, SC
The stand is fully self‑serve, allowing residents to pick up seeds at their convenience.
If it is raining, the stand will be closed for the day.
Because it is located outside, community members may still enjoy the stand even if staff are in the field assisting landowners.
The stand will be closed during the months of January, October, November, and December.
We have a wonderful selection of items available for pick‑up at the Sowing Seeds Stand, and we hope these resources inspire even more residents to enjoy gardening and to explore native and heirloom varieties.
